Squeezie is one of the most popular creators in France with 20 million subscribers on YouTube. Last year, he debuted his new format, a high-stakes competition and elimination game with 10 YouTubers called Stop the Train, produced with director Théodore Bonnet. The video has 15.5 million views.

Now, Banijay Entertainment has acquired the global format rights to Stop the Train from Unfold Production. This isn’t the first time Banijay has bought the rights to digital formats. Last year, it bought the game show Clone Heads from Objekt – the series had originally premiered on Channel 4’s YouTube channel Channel 4.0.

This is an interesting move in the creator space. In 2024, the Sidemen announced their competition show Inside was moving to Netflix for season two, which has had a major payoff.

CORQ’s trend editor Caroline Edwards explains the shift in the entertainment space.
