Food creator Frankie Parker planned a holiday, but as a creator, how was she meant to keep posting recipe videos throughout the week?

She planned a creator takeover, enlisting nine food influencers – including Ceara Rea (Chugly Girl), Chris Tomkins, Rebecca (Bec’s Journey to Health) and Big Zuu – to compete and see who could make the best packed lunch for her fiancé, Shaun. This plays into her typical content format. The announcement has 1.3 million views.

Throughout the week, one or two creator would post their entry at a specific time on their own page, which Parker would also share. Fans get to vote for the best packed lunch. Rebecca’s video has more than 831,000 views and 878 comments.

It’s gamified, it’s community-oriented (followers can vote), and it keeps Parker in TikTok’s algorithm as she takes a step back and posts travel vlogs. It’s also an entire ecosystem: Parker and the creators involved are all gaining views and followers.

CORQ’s trends editor Caroline Edwards explains the format and what it means for creators wanting to take a step back from posting.

How do you take annual leave as a content creator? You host a creator takeover. While @Frankie Parker ✨ is on holiday, she has created a completion to see who can make the best Shaun’s packed lunch. @Chugly Girl, @Big Zuu, @Chloe Rose, @CHRIS, @Rebecca 🌻, @Naveen Jaspal and more are trying to make the best meal for Shaun and are gaining hundreds of thousands of views, while Frankie is also getting mentions. This is a gamified way to win over the algorithm while taking time off from posting #shaunspackedlunch #food #influencermarketing #influencers
