Presenter Holly Willoughby is back on with a new show, only this time it’s on YouTube. Together is a no-filter, lifestyle series filled with cooking tutorials, outfit inspiration, topical conversations and celebrity interviews.
A recent study found that more Brits are watching YouTube content than the BBC. More creators are producing extended versions of their short-form content on the platform, or releasing adjacent, in-depth interview shows.
Influencers are betting on YouTube and long-form content. Comedian Josh Pugh and musician Peter Doherty just started a YouTube comedy series called The Pete Doherty Show, while chef Ben Lippett is launching a series called Stage. More established YouTubers like Nella Rose and TommyInnit are also releasing new formats.
YouTube is an opportunity to build IP that can be bought and commissioned by streamers like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The former has been acquiring creator-led shows, from Jake Shane’s Therapuss to a Hot Ones spinoff and extending its partnership with The Rest is Football.
CORQ’s trends editor Caroline Edwards explains why creators and brands are betting on YouTube.
@corq.studio Holly Willoughby is back on viewers screens – but this time it’s on YouTube with her new show Together. More creators like @Dr Ewoma, @Ben Lippett and @Alex Bailess are investing in YouTube, while creators with successful short-form interview series like @SubwayTakes and @Recess Therapy are releasing longer shows like @Celebrity Substitute and SubwayTakes Uncut on the platform. With Netflix acquiring creator IP that was built on @YouTube, everyone is betting on long-form content #youtube #youtuber #youtubeseries #hollywilloughby #influencermarketing
