Flash trend: TikTok is leading a twee fashion revival across the UK and US

Gen Z is finally moving on from its obsession with Y2K fashion (for now) and rediscovered a forgotten 2010s Tumblr trend: twee.

It originates from the indie-pop sub-genre twee-pop, popular between the 1980s to the 2010s. In terms of aesthetic, twee is the collective term for record player-owning hipsters, who play the ukulele and believe Wes Anderson films are superior.

When it comes to fashion, it differs between the US and UK, but typically twee is a nod to mod and the 1960s, featuring ballet flats, cutesy dresses, cardigans and colourful stockings.
