Influencers could be required to post disclaimers on edited body images as part of a new bill introduced by Conservative MP and former GP, Dr Luke Evans. The Digitally Altered Body Image Bill calls on advertisers, broadcasters and publishers, including anybody being paid to post on social media, to issue labels when an edited body or body part appears on posts.

If passed, Evans revealed, “the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) will develop specific guidelines on how the disclaimer would look, where it would be placed, what qualifies as ‘edited’ and what is a ‘commercial purpose’”.
