Global Google searches for Charlie and Lola in the past 30 days peaked on 7 September after the nostalgic Y2K children’s brand became the latest fashion trend on TikTok. Inspired by the illustration style of the characters, creators are using ChatGPT to produce miniature versions of their favourite looks. One tutorial for this has 3.5 million views. However, people are encouraging influencers to either draw a cartoon themselves or commission an artist to participate in the trend. This is fast becoming the textbook audience response to new creative formats which use generative AI. Brands keen to jump on this trend should partner with artists and creatives who can put their own unique spin on it. This would offer cut-through and drive the greatest positive sentiment.
