Platforms 2023 roundup: Snapchat drove AI tool adoption and expanded its creator programme

The business’ Q3 results revealed Snap Inc’s revenue grew five per cent YOY to total US $1.189 billion (£9.43 million). It reached 406 million DAUs, growing 12% YOY.

More than 21 million people in the UK are users of Snapchat. 90% of 13- to-24-year-olds utilise the app and 45% of users are above 25-years-old. People open the app an average of 50 times a day.

In February, the company unveiled My AI to Snapchat+ members (its subscription tier with more than five million users), which is a chatbot powered by ChatGPT. The Washington Post raised safety concerns about the tool. In April, My AI was made free to all users.

Snapchat expanded the requirements for its Stories revenue share programme in April, making it eligible to those with more than 50,000 followers, who post ten Stories a month and have more than 25 million monthly Snap views.
