Headlines from 2023 at WhatsApp:

  • WhatsApp Business has 200 million MAUs.
  • It has more than two billion users globally.
  • Launched WhatsApp Channels and Flows.

Businesses are increasingly using the messaging app. It makes sense, given it has more than two billion users worldwide. In Q3, 1.86 million people in the UK downloaded the messaging service, but it’s worth noting more than 1.5 million got the messaging app Telegram. In comparison, WhatsApp Business has more than 200 million MAUs.

The company launched WhatsApp Channels in September, which is a one-way broadcast tool. WhatsApp Flows rolled out in October across its WhatsApp Business Platform and is “revolutionising business messaging”. It’s similar to an online form and allows companies to better connect with customers.

Other features include being able to easily switch between two accounts and allowing users to edit messages within 15 minutes. It also introduced Chat Lock, allowing users to hide their intimate conversations. The company later rolled out a Secret Code function to password-protect chats.
